So it's been a really long time since we've seen each other! Sorry for the lack of posts I'll be explaining my absence in an update post on Wednesday, so please bear (or is it spelt bare? who knows?!) with me.

For now I thought I'd kick off my return with a review of an AA deodorant I was lucky to get my hands on.

I
was firstly drawn to the brands natural outlook on producing products.
They use very good-for-you ingredients that make you feel at ease with
the fact that no chemicals are absorbing into your skin especially if
it's a deodorant.

I've
been using it for over a month now and it's honestly not a bad product
at all. I was taken a back by the scent of the bergamot at first but
honestly now it's actually grown on me to be a musky scent. Probably
more suitable for men but it definitely isn't putting me off using it.In fact I love the scent now, i think it just takes some getting used to but it is really a unique scent paring.

The packaging is simple and I like the glass bottle element as it makes the deodorant automatically more premium looking when in fact the price isn't unreasonable at all.

It's definitely
a wet product that takes about 5-7 seconds to dry depending on the
amount you like to roll on, so its not too bad for a roll on option. And as far as keeping me dry it is up there with my favourite deodorant of all time, keeps me sweat-free and odour free for as long as I'm out and about.

Overall for someone who is partial to a bit of extra perspiration it gives me peace of mind knowing that I don't reek and that my deodorant is doing it's job. So as far as my opinion goes I think the AA option is a great contender. Definitely will be continuing using it for as long as I can get the product rolling out!

With a move on the cards sometime in the near future I've already begun buying and lusting over items/furniture for my new room. I'm going with a clean slate, no furniture just little bits and trinkets I've collected over the years, so decorating my new space is literally allowing me to go wild and fulfil my inner interior decorator dreams.

Currently after a pretty quick sale on my wardrobe I've been living out of boxes for quite a bit. I cannot wait for the day I can search for clothes without breaking a sweat over which suitcase/box it's stuffed into. The Ikea Brusali 3 door wardrobe is the perfect size to house all my long dresses and hangable clothing. Whilst it's not big enough to fit ALL my clothes in I plan on getting an ottoman bed to store all my foldable clothes out of sight!

The dresser on the right is something I spotted in a local furniture store (click here for the same dresser from an Ebay seller) and snapped up right away. It's a gorgeous French style with 6 drawers and perfect for storing make-up and other bits away. I was initially set on a dressing table but they can be quite limiting on storage so I think the dresser is the best of both worlds. Right now it's still boxed up ready for the impending move but I'm literally basing all my bedroom decor around now.

For the small decor items in the room I'm trying to stay minimal but glamorous at the same time. I've gone for glass trinkets with rose gold elements running through. Both the candlestick and basket ( I'll be using as a paper bin) are from H&M and are really affordable. They both have the rose gold / copper elements I'm looking for but are subtle because of the wire-y design, which means the colour is able to blend in rather than be a harsh block colour. The fairy lights are identical to the ones I spotted in Primark not too long ago and I love them too much not to be picking them up soon!

In terms of the other bits, I'm lusting over the idea of creating faux flower arrangements. I love flowers but I can already tell that I'll be spending a fortune on them over time so the fake type will have to suffice! The peonies I've had an eye on are from an eBay seller and are surprisingly a good dupe for the actual flowers.

The mirror pictured above is similar to one I was gifted a while back by my mum's friend. I love the ornate details and shape, just perfect to sit above the dresser. The glass trinket box is really pretty too, currently on sale in Homebase for under £1?! Sadly I live no where near a store to pick one up but I wish I did :( Something a little more accessible is the H&M glass tumbler that I'm considering to pick up for makeup brushes and also a monogram letter- I love how they personalise any space!

Finally (sorry for the long post! *high five* to anyone still reading at this point) for final touches I think Ikea's faux sheep skin will be on my shopping list as my new room has dark wood floors and something tells me the rug will be the right type of item to add warmth to the space. I'm also playing with the idea of an arm chair or chaise as I work a lot on my bed and I think it was about time I give my mattresses a break! The chaise pictured above is an amazing price but sadly not exactly the colour or pattern I'm looking for in my new room.

So that wraps up a long room ramble. If you've been bitten by the room decorating bug what have you bought or made for your space?

So I splurged a tad bit last month and I've only gotten around to doing a 'New in' post! As you can tell I'm slightly collecting lipliners in their dozens, I can't go to the drugstore without picking up at least a couple of nude liners. Luckily, both these latest options are nude ( unless you count the L'oreal one a 'nude').

L'OREAL lipliner magique- white/ invisible colour
After seeing my friend rave about her kiko lip primer I thought I'd give the Loreal version a whirl as it was a few pounds cheaper and looked like a good dupe. After using it a few times I think it's definitely good at keeping my lip products on for longer, but with any lip products it did fade with drinking and eating as a pose to my friend's kiko option which supposedly kept her lips as good as new after a full meal! For now I think I'll keep using it, I love how it literally comes out sheer providing moisture to the lips and a nice base for my lipsticks to sit on as I get really dry lips all year round.

THE BODY SHOP lipliner- mahogany
Last month I popped into the store and caught the 'buy one get one half price' sale which technically made the lipliner £4 in comparison to a hefty £8, and as I haven't tried a TBS lipliner before I thought I'd take advantage of the offer. The shade is bordering the nude and burgundy categories, just the right type of colour to make a slight more impact than a standard nude. So far in love! Stay tuned for a lipliner collection to see swatches of all my lipliners including this one.

Lipliners are <strike>fast becoming</strike> my favourite makeup item and it's crazy to think a few months ago I didn't own any! Now I am an owner of more than 10 which is literally insane. For a look into my lipliner collection check out the image I posted on instagram and the corresponding post that shall be up in a few weeks! Of course leave your lip liner recommendations below I may own many but I have no plans to stop buying them ( hah) !

Recently, with a summer wedding coming up and with bridesmaid duties in full tow, I've been thinking more and more about getting my skin into the flawless category so I can look back on the days pictures and not hate what I see. My skin has been through a lot of breakouts over the past months and the scars from previous spots are still lurking around leaving me with about 50 different shades of brown on my face, which is not the desired look!

With the big day fast approaching I've devised an at-home spa type session to help me get into a relaxing facial routine without the hefty price tag. This can be done with a bunch of girlies over a sleepover style night in or like me with my mum for a pampering treat.

STEP 1- MAKE A LIST
Note your target areas to combat ie- I have blackheads mainly on my nose that need rapid eviction! You may have an oily t-zone or dry skin, either way note them down so you can get products that do the job. Of course the list below is just a vague indicator as I am no skin expert but this is usually what I go by for my dry skin + some cucumber slices for extra eye soothing!

-all skin types= exfoliation
- Dry skin = moisturising masks
-Oily/ combo skin= oil balancing masks
-breakout prone= tea-tree products
-blackheads= nose/face pore strips

If you want a more basic pamper session skip this step and go with a basic mask.

STEP 2- GET MAKING/BUYING
I tend to go the boring route and purchase pre-made masks from Superdrugs or Lush but making them are equally fun and satisfying. For the recipes I totally recommend Pinterest ( follow me - link on the right bar ;) ) it's so easy to find what you're looking for by just typing it into the search bar. I've used a homemade turmeric mask recipe from there before and it did the trick (albeit leaving a few yellow stains on my towels!).

STEP 3- GET PAMPERING
set the scene. If your going for a spa like vibe then GO go it! Fill a bowl with boiling water for a little steaming action, light some candles and fairly lights and even go the full hog and get some mani pedi's done too. It's all about the relaxation. Shut off all phones and let the night unwind.

If you have any more tips and tricks to achieving the perfect at-home spa evening then leave them below, I love taking something and giving it a DIY!
Sorry for the lack of posts! I've been in the midst of Summer plans going from one event to the other and I haven't sat down till now to write up a few posts, so excuse the slightly shorter post. I'll be back soon for more normal style posts in the coming weeks.

This recipe is super easy and makes delicious tuna pasta that can be eaten hot or cold, for a picnic or lunch.

what you need:
- pasta of choice ( 1 cup per person)
- a can of tuna
- chopped coriander
- a few cherry tomatoes
-finely chopped onion
-oil of choice
-salt to taste
- 1 chili ( or skip this option if your a spice-phobe)

What to do:
- Boil the pasta following the packet instructions and set aside in a colander
- In a small fry pan sweat off the onions in the oil until the onions are clear and golden. Add salt to taste and the chopped chili and fry for a further minute.
-drain the tuna and add as much or as less as you prefer to the sweated onion mix
-Add some the chopped tomatoes at this point if you like them softened into the pasta, if you prefer a bite then leave them out until the end
- once the tuna is incorporated and fried off add in the pasta and continue mixing
- leave on slow heat so the pasta has time to absorb all the tuna-ry goodness
-then serve whilst hot or leave aside to cool before eating (whatever you prefer!)

This is one of my fave pasta dishes, literally takes 15 minutes to spruce up and enjoy!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-11176293949881879592015-06-24T09:00:00.000+01:002015-06-24T09:00:02.806+01:00Nars Brush Dupes

Personally I love Nars but with its luxury price tag I can't afford to get the things I'm constantly lusting over. The brushes are just a weakness of mine, from the unique designs to the chic matte black handles it's enough to make you weak at the knees. One of the downsides is it's price, not to say that the beauty does come at a price and of course, the people over at Nars have put pain-staking hours into them but the average student come beauty lover has to draw the line at a makeup brush costing a hefty £43 each!

So here's where the dupes come in... Ebay! Now they definitely aren't as luxurious as the Nars offerings but what I can say is that the near identical look is enough to get me ordering.

I've especially got my eyes on the Nars yachiyo dupe, currently the seller has an all white version which is utterly swoon worthy. Definitely would already be in my basket if it wasn't for my house move and the delivery timings!

So what have you got your eye on?

Getting the base perfect is the bane of my existence because without a flawless face it's hard for anything else to look good layered on top. I have dry skin and no matter what I do I some how can never get the foundation to sink in without clinging to the dry patches. Saying that I've been working on getting my base right with a few changes so I can look as supple and dewy without letting my dry de-hydrated skin get in the way.

1. MOISTURISE- I used to moisturise right before putting my foundation on so it was practically buffed away with the foundation. Now I work on letting my moisturiser sink in the morning before I apply my makeup, that way the moisturiser is fully in work before placing a primer and foundation on top. Primers will increase the longevity of the base which will stop oils and pollutants from making that base disappear throughout the day.

2. TOOLS- I currently have two face brushes on rotation with the Real techniques expert face brush taking favour on most days. I've also got a beautyblender in my stash that I am yet to use but with my dry skin I'm eager to test out how it affects the application. On oilier skin a buffing brush like the Real Techniques offering will work well to fully buff in the foundation to a desired effect.

3. THE FOUNDATION- It's no surprise that choosing the right foundation is key. I have mix of heavier and lighter liquid foundations which I like to change up when I want a more full coverage or not. The colour is also important- my first drugstore foundation buying experience was pretty traumatising because nobody was around to help match me. I guessed, which was luckily an okay fit but if it wasn't I would've been left with two foundations ( it was on a offer at the time) that didn't match! ( we cant return makeup in the UK) So take a friend with you and get a second opinion because the nobody wants a mismatched face! - That counts for concealer too! I've had disasters where my concealer was white/ashy grey compared to my face and that is not a great look!

4. SETTING- I've recently invested in a setting spray which I love spritzing on after my makeup is done. You can also choose to set with a translucent powder which I like doing with a duo-fibre brush to ensure that it's a light dusting and not a heavy hit of white dust. Recently I've realised that it's possibly due to the setting powder that clings onto my dry patches so I'm planning to skip that step to test that theory. But for oilier skin or zones on the face you can easily just powder those areas as needed to avoid my worries.

So I'm sure we've all had foundation problems, that's a given. But once that foundation base is perfected applying the next stages is all made that much simpler! In the comments below let me know your foundation tips and disasters too, I'd love to know !

In collaboration with DayinthelifeofNajmin we thought we would do a post on a makeup look creating out Primark P.S Love palettes that we managed to snap up during the Xmas sales. My palette is called the 'loveable luxuries' and houses a series of pinks and nude tones so they're great for day and night use. The look I've gone for is a copper ombre lid with coral running under the eye for a pop of colour.

I placed colour 1- a pretty rose gold shimmery colour on the lid and patted 2- a bronze glitter shadow in the centre of the lid so the rose gold shade was still present beneath. For a nice summer accent I thought the addition of the bright coral would do just the trick and highlight the lower lash line rather than using a harsh brown or black.

To enhance the look I thought I could continue the coral theme with the Topshop blush in 'head over heels' and MUA lipstick in shade 'peachy keen'. Of course no one can say no to a bit of contour and for that I though the Makeup revolution sculpt and contour palette would do the trick. All of the products are super affordable and great for a summer pick-me-up too!

Makeup is something I don't wear on a daily basis but on the rare occassion I do I like to be ready with my tool belt to apply my war paint. Most my brushes have been in a haul of some sort over the past couple of years so they're probably nothing new to you- compromising mainly of Real techniques, not a surprise eh?

My top 5 brushes as it stands ( tends to change from time to time ), consists of the RT expert face brush for buffing in my foundation, it's currently my go-to face brush at the moment, but I do switch it up with the stippling brush for a lighter base.

Next up is the ELF blush brush which I use mainly for contour due to its tappered bristles. I love how it applies the product with the tip of the brush and then blends simultaneously with the rest of the edges. Very hard not to get your contour blended seamlessly with this brush.

RT duo fibre range is another one of my faves, with the big powder brush winning my favour for applying setting powder. It's nice for a light dusting of powder and isn't too heavy on applying an even layer.

In terms of eye brushes I have my trusty eBay offerings to help me smoke up my look. They were as cheap as chips and haven't let me down just yet, so I'm holding on! They're great in terms of packing on the colour and adding definition to the crease so if you're on the hunt for nice eye brushes have a look on eBay.

So those are my top 5 makeup brushes, do check out Najmin's post to see her top brushes because she has an amazing collection I'm envious of!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-63229790231914781632015-05-07T09:00:00.000+01:002015-05-07T09:00:00.583+01:00mayebelline colour tattoo

I was recently introduced to the realm of cream eyeshadows in the form of the Mayebelline colour tattoos. I've seen them roaming the blogging world left right and centre over the past years and I was never keen on the idea on buying cream when I had so many powder shadows. That being said I was kindly given the colour 'creamy beige' for my birthday and after a few uses I have converted somewhat to the cream eyeshadow side!

The typical use is to swipe it over the lips with the ring finger as a base for the lids but with my obsession with brown eyeliners I love to mix things up and use a liner brush to create a creamy light brown wing on the eyes.

So for the most part I'm loving playing around with the Mayebelline tattoo and I have my eye on 'on and on bronze' which is always sold out in my local Boots or Superdrugs. I'm tempted to buy some from other brands too so leave your suggestions below. What are some ways you use your cream eyeshadows?
We've been seeing more Summer weather than Spring here in London but nonetheless that 'Spring Glow' is in season in concerns to makeup trends, and I honestly love the effortless 'no makeup' dewy makeup that features every year around this season.

Everybody has their go-to combo for lips and cheeks and I'm no different. I love subtly co-ordinating my blush and lipstick at times just to bring out that root colour I'm going for at that moment. At the moment brown-toned pinks are still my fave just because they suit my olive complexion the best. I've gone for my cream blush by Elizabeth Arden in Honey and Natural collection lipstick in Biscuit. I love the way they complement each other without looking like I've gone too far with the Colour matching!

What are your Spring/ Summer lip and cheek combos? This post is a collab with Najmin from DayinthelifeofNajmin so head over there to see her lip/cheek combos!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-82122568519998237422015-04-22T09:00:00.000+01:002015-04-22T09:00:01.559+01:00Always a tourist~ Day in the life #8

There's never a bad time to put on your tourist hats on in your own home town and take a good old wonder around. It's amazing to think I've lived in London my whole life but never seen parts of it before. With friend in tow we made it a mission to walk around Covent Garden which led to a mini walking marathon of several other landmarks- Soho, leicester Square, Oxford Street, Chinatown, Regents Street, Knightsbridge and a few more back in time for tea! Even we surprised ourselves with our agility; although my feet did feel pretty sore afterwards I loved the little day out- even sold the 'experience' to my cousin as a little day out for her birthday next month! Hah I should be a tour guide no?

PS- lets just say the bad quality phone images add to the authentic tourist feel, hah!

Although I didn't buy much I loved window shopping in stores I've only dreamt about visiting. Anthropology was a Pinterest lovers haven and I felt like I could be in there all day. Hamley's was another attraction my friend and I loved despite the odd looks from people in there- 19 year olds can enjoy huge toys okay! Hah, nonetheless it was a lovely day and I would do it again, with the addition of a few more stores to visit on the list- if my feet can handle it...

April is amongst us and we're already half-way through. The exam season depression will definitely be making lots of purchases to recover! This months wishlist has a mixture of 'wants' that I'm lusting over.

Boots' answer to the Victorias Secret sprays. For a mere £3 I think I'll be picking one up sometime when I'm feeling spendy because I can't justify spending £8 or so on the VS equivalent even if its on a 5 for £30 deal!

Revlon black cherry is something I've probably already wishlisted and never bought! I love it so much but never bite the bullet and buy it because of my bold lip fear! For £7-49 I don't think it's too bad but recently I've realised that Sleek's Vamp is an almost identical dupe for £4.99- hmmm... now I'm unsure on what to get :(

On the decor front, The Range are selling acrylic storage for £7.99 the last time I checked, which is a fraction of the Muji equivalent. I'm holding back from buying it for now until I move into my new room. Fingers crossed it's still in stock when I want to buy them!

Yoga is something I've been wanting to try for ages but the commitment phobe in me hasn't been able to get into it just yet. Maybe once my exams are over I'll get myself a summer hobby and get fit in time for Summer wedding seasons. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-15631696664534866342015-04-13T09:00:00.000+01:002015-04-13T09:00:07.906+01:00'not-black' eyeliners

After years of donning a black winged liner, I was in the market for something a little softer on my eyes. Having dark brown eyes like 57% or so other people in the world I wanted something to make them pop. Don't get me wrong I love my eyes, but the almost blackish tone of them does get boring from time to time. With that in mind I began buying 'non-black' eyeliner- funnily enough back in the days of my first eyeliner (which I still have!) it was brown not even black!

I have a steadily growing collection of eyeliners now that I reach for more than my black liquid ones, just because I feel like it gives a more casual look on me. The first of my 5 is a nude eyeliner from Rimmel, and as you'll see Rimmel makes up the majority of this collection! I love the nude for the waterline and inner corner to wake me up and open up my already Bambi sized eyes. Downside for me is that I feel like it fades after a few hours, possible because of my overly watery eye syndrome, but hey it looks good initially!

Second in the line up is my newest purchase, a copper toned Rimmel 'smoke n' shine'- the creamy texture is really unique, its a twist up pencil but described as an 'automatic gel eyeliner' on the packaging, which is definitely the case. The swatch does not do it justice, in reality the copper is rich as creamy and picks up the light beautifully. sticking to the brown theme (last swatch) is another Rimmel contender, and 'exaggerate kohl' in rich brown. It's a more chocolate brown that can be built to a deeper shade. The smudging tool and sharpener on the end is a bonus too!

lastly on the navy front I have a liquid liner from Eyeko, which I LOVE! The packaging has seen better days, but that just shows how much I've reached for it over my black liners. It's a felt liner so it's great for flick-a-phobes like me that can't get a flick right to save my life! As an alternative (I forgot to swatch!) I have another Rimmel soft kohl in Denim Blue- which honestly isn't as pigmented on the lids as I'd like but nonetheless a shade that makes my eyes stand out nicely.

Now that I've been bitten my the coloured liner bug I can't stop! I've decided to use my shadows with a liner brush to achieve the same lined look without spending on new eyeliner pencils- the results with shadows are just as beautiful but more smoked out. The next colours on my list are olive green and purple! Who is else is on the coloured liner bandwagon?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-10446564358589383922015-04-10T09:00:00.000+01:002015-04-10T09:00:07.814+01:00lips by revlon

I'm a big fan of Revlon lip products especially the lip butters. They're moisturising and long-lasting, not to mention always on some sort of deal in Boots!

I've collected three lipsticks over the past year- The colourstay ultimate seude lipsticks, which give a gorgeous matte finish without over drying my lips, and a Lip Butter- which is hands down my most used favourite lip product of all time. I've also been eyeing up the normal range of lipsticks in the shade black cherry for a vampy burgundy lip too, so you might be seeing that pop up on my blog some time soon!

What are your favourite lipsticks/ brands at the drugstore?

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-45297157944848914132015-04-07T09:00:00.000+01:002015-04-07T09:00:09.373+01:00'Natural Collection' collection

Natural collection is one of those brands that I love. They have affordable makeup in all sorts of colours and formula's so I'm always browsing the stands for any colours I don't already have in my collection.

Out of my NC collection trio I have two lipsticks and a blusher all going with my love for dusky pinks and nudes. I have the shades 'biscuit' - a brown toned pink perfect for that Kylie Jenner trend, and 'pink mallow'- a cool toned pink. Both lipsticks are part of their moisture shine formula which is a non-drying finish that I love. It's not matte but not super glossy either so it's the best of both worlds I guess. For swatches of the lipsticks keep an eye out on my instagram @whatididonwednesday as I'll be posting a snap on their when this post is up.

The blush is in the shade 'pink cloud' which I love. It's a really natural blush and it feels like I'm sweeping a mineral powder on my cheeks. It's light and not too badly pigmented- it's buildable and doesn't throw on too much pink on the first swipe which is perfect for blush-phobes like me.

I'm planning on looking at some of the NC lipliner offerings - my new found obsession with lipliners continue. Leave you natural collection recommendations below, and let me know if you've had success stories with the brand.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-35689262725814460072015-04-04T09:00:00.000+01:002015-04-04T09:00:01.911+01:00pinterest food inspo

I am undeniably a foodie. It goes without saying that I eat as a hobby, and I am either cooking, baking or pinning food inspo on Pinterest in my spare time. In a bid to get healthy I've been recently looking more and more into the vegan lifestyle. Not so much as a lifestyle change completely ( because this girl can't give up a mean beef burger) but as a way of getting healthy and happy without compromising taste. I'm all for supporting Vegan beliefs on the weekdays but I also believe in a balance and that balance for me comes in the form of trying everything in moderation. Ramble over.

A few of my favourite vegan recipes consist of colourful and vibrant quinoa salads, they look jam-packed with flavour and taste- not at all bland looking despite the lack of meat. They're versatile and can be changed up to suit your mood or whatever is in your fridge. Like the ones pictured above (top far left and right) one is made with kidney beans and the other with green beans and all sorts. I haven't yet picked up a pack of quinoa but when I do I'll be packing it up for lunch at uni every day!

More recipes I've recently pinned come in the form of vegan shepherd pie, pizza and an Asian-inspired noodle salad. Personally the shepherds pie screams all sorts of yummyness and to be honest I like how I don't need to spend extra money on mince or chicken to make a delicious dinner ( #studentmoneyproblems). The pizza is already one I know I will love because I'm not much of a cheese lover to begin with. Parmesan I can handle but cheddar and anything with a slight whiff makes me feel a bit uneasy. The sundried toms and flat base is enough to make me drool any day of the week.

I like to think I'm a savoury gal but when those sweet tooth cravings kick in I imagine those cookie dough balls will hit all the right spots. They're made with all sorts of healthy goodness and by the look of them they don't look like they'd taste as healthy as they are!- Totally can't be said for those Nutella brownies but we can all have a cheat day sometime ;)

What foods hit your right buttons?

When shiny situations call I reach for my Rimmel stay matte powder in transluscent and my Real Techniques duo fibre powder brush for quick touch ups. I love this powder-brush duo because the brush collects the right amount of powder and disperses it lightly on the skin without making my face appear cake-y or too heavily powdered ( my worse fear ). The powder itself is great for setting foundation and concealer stopping my face from cracking and creasing throughout the day.

I've had the powder for months now and I'm still yet to dig into the pattern- a little definitley goes a long way which I love. The brush itself is a lovely light and soft investment, as you'd expect with Real Techniques. I like how it's not too big so I can fit it under the eyes and cheeks with a delicate sweep.

Winter is leaving us for another season and with spring in the air bronzers come back out to play. I love bronzers because I think it suits my olive skin tone and blends into the cheek bones without looking like I just plonked it there ( eh hem blusher...).

Collection Bronze Glow was my first bronzer that I purchased a couple of years ago when I first got into makeup and beauty. I love how it's matte and really big for the ultimate brush swishing tactic I adopt when carving in the 'bronze glow' onto my non existent cheek bones. I admit it's not the best bronzer as it's slightly orangey for my skin tone but recently I've been using it as a crease colour on my lids and it looks so pretty. I'm going to play around with how the bronzer pairs with a highlighter and blush on my cheeks to see if it looks any better.

The Body shop Honey Bronzer in 04 is my go to bronzer at the moment. I purchased it last year after biting the bullet and giving in to the Essiebutton hype. It goes perfectly with my skin tone and again the matte finish makes the bronzer effortless and natural on the skin making it appear like I actually have cheekbones! I use it more as a contour by sweeping it up to the temples and layering it in a 3 motion on the sides of my face. Like the Collection offering I also use it on the eyes for a golden goddess look sported on the catwalk of Burberry last year.

What are your favourite bronzers?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-44736070399269489682015-03-23T09:00:00.000+00:002015-03-23T09:00:03.386+00:00head over heels

Following a shopping spree during the boxing day sale I gave in to my Topshop makeup desires and picked up this blush in 'head over heels' as part of a gift duo with Beguiled lipstick. I wasn't too keen on it to be quite honest, it just worked out to be a better deal purchasing the two rather than the lipstick alone (which I wanted).

So it's safe to say I had my reservations from the start. On top of that blushers are something I can't entirely make work on my chubby cheeks no matter how hard I try. That being said 'head of heels' is a cream blush so I've found that I can blend it in better on my face over powders to give a natural look. Despite the neon tinge in the pan it is less harsh on the face giving a rosy pink kiss to the cheeks without looking traffic cone like.

I like wearing the blush on the tops of my cheeks patted on my with fingers and later on blended in my with my real techniques duo fibre contour brush. Together the brush distributed the blush more evenly setting the look.

Have you tried any cream blushers?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04985131172110006214noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4891661980825432919.post-53221336666889675472015-03-20T09:00:00.000+00:002015-03-20T09:00:02.226+00:00Pinterest Home Admiration

With a possible move on the cards I've been getting over excited and going Pinterest mad with home decor pins. My current room is fine but fine is not the vibe I'm going for in my new space. I want a minimalist feel with an explosion of colour and prints in the decor. I feel like that way I can constantly change up my room with different cushions and throws rather than a whole redecoration a few months down the line when I get bored.

I'm loving the Moroccan vibe of the cushions giving the lived in feel. That's one thing I want it to feel- loved and lived in rather than being a show room. The floral prints and ethnic colour palette is so inspiring and makes me happy. Even if I paint my room stark white or grey I think the pop of colour will bring it back up a notch and add my personality to the room. Not to mention the open shelving, I think putting my more valuable decor on display will be a focal point in the room whilst being a practical storage solution for all my books and folders. Lets just hope the masses of books I'll need to store will look somewhat as neat when displayed.

Again as I plan to have white furniture (minus my grey bed) I like the idea of having that pop of floral print on the side panels of the drawers, it's an ingenious idea and won't cost a thing but will create ample impact. Not to mention the idea of a huge comfy duvet... I'm dosing off just thinking of it! Part of the white furniture plan is getting a dressing table/ desk situation sorted. I was all for a dressing table until I realised getting a piece that will double as a desk will be more practical for my hectic university life. Sadly I spend more time working than putting on makeup so a compromise has to be made. The ikea Malm is a nice minimalist table and has a large draw so I might consider getting this unless I find an alternative.

For those finishing touches I am itching to get my hands on some cacti in all different styles ( breeds?). I think they add a really high end feel to a space and a natural element to a room without the upkeep of watering everyday. On the not so natural spectrum I also love the idea of displaying my perfumes on a cake stand. It's handy for people like me who panic when they forget to spritz before leaving the house. No more paranoid train journeys with perfume at hand!

A few months ago I picked up a Boots exfoliating sponge on 3 for 2 offer with a moisturiser and face wash. But I was most excited to see what the sponge would work like on my undeniably dry skin.

I've been using it for a good few months now and at first I have to admit it was really scratch-y on my skin even after immersing it in hot water before use. It felt really harsh on my skin but with the cleanser it didn't leave any redness or marks on my skin as I feared, it was actually surprisingly nice and left my skin uber soft. Now that the 'new' feeling of the sponge is gone it isn't so harsh on my skin and works equally as well as the first results. I love how it buffs away dead skin leaving my face as soft as a baby's bottom. I use it once a week but to be honest I think I could do with using it twice because the softness lasts around 2 days after exfoliating- I'm guessing the top layer of skin 'dies' and needs re-exfoliating, but I'm no expert.

One thing I should mention is that although it leaves my skin really supple and soft, the sponge needs a bit of care in the drying process to ensure no bacteria grows on it. Ideally I guess it should be replaced every so often, but you'll be able to tell when that is from the state of the sponge. For £1.50 (cheaper if you work it into a Boots deal) it isn't going to break the bank.

What are your thoughts on exfoliating?
